WHAT FLOWERS ARE IN SEASON FOR YOUR WEDDING MONTH

So you're getting married...CONGRATS!

Knowing what flowers will be in season for your wedding is one of the best places to start when planning a wedding. Using seasonal flowers definitely has its advantages as they reflect the season you're getting married, they are fresher, often better quality and can be a more affordable option. Your florist will always aim to plan their designs around the season to match the colours and texture to your brief.

Here's our guide, season by season, helping you find the perfect blooms for your dream wedding:

SPRING
(September, October, November)

Spring is the most exciting time of the year for weddings as there are a lot of beautiful flowers around, and it's the most popular time to get married in Australia. Think an abundance of scented flowers, beautiful pastels and dreamy garden vibes. November is when the illustrious 'Peony' start to bloom. They are only here for a short time which is one of the reasons they're so special and demand is high, which can often mean they are on the more expensive side.

You can also expect the likes of beautiful Ranunculus, Roses, Blushing Bride, Anemones, Freesias, Waratahs and Banksias, just to name a few. It is the perfect month for lush and vibrant designs.

SUMMER
(December, January, February)

Summer brings long sunny days and an incredible variety of vibrant flowers. Some of our Summer favourites are Hydrangeas, Lisianthus, Delphinium, Flannel Flower, Cosmos, Garden Roses and Anthuriums. By late Summer we are welcoming in local Sunflowers, Zinnias and Sea Holly.

One thing to keep in mind when planning your Summer wedding flowers is of course the Melbourne heat - some of the more delicate blooms can find it tough in the heat!

AUTUMN
(March, April, May)

For the lovers of rich, warm and textural designs, Autumn is the perfect season. Beautiful blooms such as Maple foliage, Zinnias, Roses, Dahlias, David Austin Roses, Smoke Bush, Kangaroo Paw and Wax Flower are all in their peak. This season brings warmth to any design!

WINTER
(June, July, August)

Winter weddings have a charm all their own. Think timeless elegance, moody tones or classic whites. The season also boasts some of the most beautifully scented flowers like Jasmine, Freesia and Daphne. We welcome one of our favourites - fluffy Parrot Tulips, along with Sweet Peas, Cymbidium Orchids, Poppies and Daffodils. Pair it all with soft candlelight and these flowers create a magical and sophisticated atmosphere for your wedding.

No matter what time of the year you're getting married, there is an abundance of flowers available! Choosing seasonal flowers not only assure that you are supporting local growers, it also allows you to have the freshest flowers while embracing the beauty of each season.
